Dr Maria Brake, MD, FRCSC
Founder |Surgeon | Medical Director | Aesthetics Treatment Specialist
Dr Maria Brake is a Canadian-trained Otolaryngologist-Head and Neck Surgeon. She became a medical doctor in 2008, and after a 5-year surgical residency, qualified as a surgeon in 2013. During her residency, she undertook sub-specialty training in facial plastics and reconstructive surgery, including a rotation at the renowned Johns Hopkins in Maryland; Dr Brake has exclusively been focused on surgery of the face and neck since 2009.
Dr Brake has a strong commitment to ongoing life-long training to further refine her skill-set and outcomes. She has attended several advanced non-surgical and surgical cosmetic programs internationally, such as The Harley Street Institute Medical Aesthetics Program (London, UK), the Dallas Cosmetic and Rhinoplasty Meetings, MD Code Injectable Training (Allergen Medical Institute) and Clarion Clinical Expert Training. She also has experience with transgendered individuals who are transitioning, and understands the special needs and options for patients wishing to demonstrate a more masculine or feminine appearance. She also has a fellowship in voice, airway and neck surgery from St Michael's Hospital (Toronto), which are the areas of focus in her MSP practice, in addition to the management of facial skin cancers and reconstruction.
Dr Brake has 10 years of experience of using botox and fillers within her practice. Since moving to Kelowna in 2016, she imagined an option for the clientele of the Okanagan where filler injections were performed exclusively by facial surgeons, rather than just being the medical overseer of other non-physician injectors. She imagined a clinic that offered honest and effective treatments and skincare that were patient focused rather than profit driven. She imagined a discrete, calm and private setting. Above all, at Omorfia, Dr Brake wanted patients to feel safe under her care, knowing she has their best interests in mind.
Dr Brake has now, in 2020, finally opened Omorfia, a clinic which encompasses all of these founding principles. Omorfia is the first and only medical anesthetics practice in the Okanagan that is owned and operated by a female facial, head and neck surgeon. Contact the clinic today for your free consultation.
